Karen is an organisational psychologist with a 25 year career in assisting organisations and individuals to meet their goals. She has worked with the Peers and Players team since 1997.
Karen’s core expertise is in the development of people at work, through leadership programs, executive coaching, 360 feedback and psychometrics where appropriate. She is especially interested in the psychology of communication – the ‘mechanics’ of what makes for good communication in different settings, the barriers that emerge, people’s fears, stumbling blocks and how to overcome them. She gets a buzz from working with leaders by observing their communication practice and being able to discern what is happening when the outcomes don’t match the intentions. Her approach is to be frank and completely honest with feedback, and supportive with coaching and development strategies.
Her program design and facilitation work has been for all levels of leadership within organisations including Nab, KPMG, EY, Qantas, ASIC, McDonalds, Baker & McKenzie, McGrath Nicol, Vero, Sinclair Knight Merz, Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Australian Graduate School of Policing etc.
Recent interests have lead Karen to complete a Graduate Diploma in Wellness from RMIT. This complements her MA in Psychology from the University of Edinburgh, and an MSc in Occupational Psychology from the University of Sheffield. Karen is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and is a registered psychologist.
